26-year-old contestant from Kenya and 29-year-old contestant from Lithuania are the winners of the anniversary edition of the Marathon in which took part the record number of 22 000 runners among which were also the Prime Minister George Papandreou and two other ministers. With the score 2-1 in favor of the greens ended the derby between the football teams of Panathinaikos and Olympiakos at the OAKA stadium in Athens. The meeting, which the two eternal enemies were eagerly looking forward to for, turned into a battlefield. The American TV host and actress of Greek origin Maria Menounos came to Greece to celebrate the 2500-th anniversary of the Battle of Marathon. Despite of her numerous commitments the beautiful Menounos flew from America to take on the role of host during the festive ceremony celebrating the anniversary. At a press conference just few days before the marathon, she said that she was extremely happy to be in Greece among the greatest athletes on the planet.
