New Democracy has failed to establish a coalition government and under the Constitution, the President of the republic will give the mandate to the second largest party in parliament - SYRIZA.

Kouvelis expects a more concrete proposal from SYRIZA before giving his consent to support a government of left forces. He will not help Samaras.

The victory of the radical left is only apparent. Young people voted for SYRIZA because Alexis Tsipras promised them to continue the system that has taken the country to its present state, says sociologist George Siakandaris in an interview with Anastasia Balezdrova.

Greek Socialist leader Evangelos Venizelos said after his meeting with Antonis Samaras that the time has come to form a government of national salvation. It must involve all political forces that want Greece to remain in the European Union and the eurozone.

Antonis Samaras and Alexis Tsipras reached consensus on only one topic – they cannot establish a coalition government together.

The leader of the liberal New Democracy will meet with the leaders of SYRIZA at 4 pm, PASOK at 5 pm and Fotis Kouvelis at 6.30 pm. "Independent Greeks" leader Panos Kamenos refused to meet with him.

The Greek Parliament President described the situation as critical and urged political parties to show responsibility to take the country out of this crisis.
