The court in Larnaca has found guilty former Minister of Defence Kostas Papakostas. The relatives of the 13 victims and the political opponents of the Communists of AKEL say that Dimitris Christofias is responsible for the bloody incident.

The integrated rescue centre and the coast-guard services were informed about the incident at 5:40 in the morning. The rescue operation involved one vessel of the coast-guard service, a ship of the navy, a cargo ship and a fishing vessel.

The municipal services in Greece have remained closed for the second day in a row because of the strike of the union of employees in local government organizations ПОЕ-ОТА. Earlier this week, the government had announced that it would close the municipal police. It employs 3,600 people whose main duty is to write parking tickets.
