A new general strike on July 8th – the day of voting on the pension reform

New general strike on Thursday July 8th, when it is the day of voting on the bill for the pension security reform, decided to declare the management of the union GSEE and very soon it is expected for the union employees in the public sector - ADEDY to also take such a decision. On the day of the strike the two unions are organizing a protest at the Klavtmonos Square and demonstrations towards the Parliament where the bill will be discussed.


Multinational companies are withdrawing from Greece

The economic instability, reduced market demand and the often changing taxes are the main reasons for the withdrawal of many large international corporations from Greece. Apparently the trend for reduced sales and lower profits will continue for at least another three years


The Chief Auditor of Greece revealed a Union member having 9 million euro in his bank account

"If the security of the state depends on the battery of a cell phone then I’m not wondering how we got here," said the Chief Auditor of the State Administration Leandros Rakindzis. He presented the annual report on corruption in the public sector, and a reason for his remark was the case of an official sanction of a flights dispatcher at the regional airport, who overslept because her phone battery run out and her alarm didn’t go off, and as a result of that she didn’t go to work on time and the regular service flight of an aircraft was canceled.

Two billion euro borrowed Greece in order to launch the National program for strategic development

This is the biggest credit which Greece has ever drawn from the European bank. The loan is for a period of 25 years with 7 years grace period. It covers 50% of the required four billion euros from the state to launch projects with funding from the national framework for strategic development.


A suspected in being a Russian spy escaped from the Cypriot police

A 54-years-old Greek-Canadian who was arrested in Cyprus following the order of Interpol as being the 11th man of a group, accused of espionage in the U.S.A., has disappeared without leaving any trace. It is believed that he was the treasurer of the group and is now reported missing.
