Vouchers instead of retirement securities for domestic servants in Greece

According to the data of the Ministry of Labour, over 300,000 Greeks and foreigners are working in agriculture or as domestic staff in private houses. They receive a salary, but it is not accounted anywhere. The Minister of Labour and Social Security George Koutroumanis is taking measures to change it.

Difficult access to health services for immigrants

Various factors are hampering immigrants or impeding their access to health services not only in Greece. Trained "cultural" mediators entered Greek hospitals a few months ago for the first time to translate into the immigrants’ native languages and help them to overcome the bureaucratic procedures while in hospital or in the process of health examinations.


Taxes will rise unless the spending is cut

The Governor of Bank of Greece stated that if the country applied reasonable and achievable fiscal policy during the period 2000-2010, the debt could now be less than 100% of the GDP. He criticized the government and insisted on immediate cuts in spending.

European People's Party discusses sanctions for New Democracy

According to German newspaper "Suddeutsche Zeitung", the European People's Party is considering to impose sanctions on New Democracy, because of the persistent failure of its leader Antonis Samaras to support the new rescue plan for Greece.
