The thriller with the young man who appeared at 9 am at the White Tower in Thessaloniki today, threatening to commit suicide, ended without incidents. The man had said he had a hand grenade in his pocket and was going to blow himself up.

The incident ended shortly before 1 pm when about 10 policemen and specialists trained to negotiate in such situations surrounded the man.

A check made it clear that he had had neither a hand grenade nor any other object on him. The police apprehended the young man who did not resist and took him to the police station near the White Tower.

So far, the reasons for his act remain unknown. Thessaloniki media recall that the young man had been treated in a psychiatric hospital in the past.
