Post-election shocks in New Democracy

The election collapse of New Democracy caused shock among the members and supporters of the party. Even its opponents still cannot believe what happened. After Kostas Karamanlis’  resignation from the leadership position and the announcement of an emergency congress of the party, two colleagues of the former PM announced that they are quitting politics. There are also rumors that other party members will also leave the active party life and some Karamanlis heirs are preparing themselves to take over.

At 11:00AM Georgios Papandreou will take an oath as a Prime Minister in front of the President of Greece Karolos Papoulyas. The new government members will be announced later in the afternoon.
