The game from the fifth round for the cup of Greece between Panathinaikos and Pierikos finished with 2:1 score. Even though it was not easy the greens defeated their guests with a second goal literary in the last minute of the second half. The two goals of the hosts were scored by the forward Silva Klayton. Their first goal for the game the gosts scored in the 18th minute – Leto passed and Klayton scored. In the 31st minute Sarieghi made an attempt to score from a headshot, however the ball hit the bar of the goal post of the enemy. It seemed that after the first goal the players of Panathinaikos calmed down and weren’t so much focused on creating goal situations. Pierikos took advantage of the temporary dullness of the hosts and in the 38th minute the forward Konteon scored in the goal post of the greens. Two substitutions in the team of Panathinaikos followed. Christodoulopoulos and Petropoulos were replaced by Ninis and Cisse. Despite of the substitutions Panathinaikos was still unable to wake up and take the lead. The French Cisse made four attempts to score, whoever none of them finished with a goal. Following came the attempts of Karagounis and Ninis to score in the 37th and 42nd minutes, however they were unsuccessful again. At the end of the second half the game became rough and dynamic. In the 44th minute the hosts attacked the goal post of the guests several times. Their attempts for goals were accompanied by fouls… In the 45th minute there was a moment of great tension when both teams made attempts for goals, however none of them didn’t manage to score. It seemed that the players of Panathinaikos realized that this is the end of the game and the moment when they have to score at any price in order to finish the game with a victory. The tension of the greens grew drasticly. The goal came and surprised everybody in the last minute before the end of the game…

On the press conference which the teams held after the game Nikos Nioplias said that he is happy with the way the greens played. He was particularly happy with the first 20 minutes when they started the game with great energy, rhythm and desire to fight and take advantage of the goal positions. Then they went slack and stopped aiming at scoring. The more time was passing the more they went slack and obviously slowed down the rhythm only to wake up again 20 minutes before the end of the game…

Soulis Papadopoulos on the other side said that he did not expect this for the team of Pierikos and is definitely not happy with the score.

He is particularly unhappy with the second goal which the hosts scored in the last minute.
