Unexpected triumph of AEK over Olympiakos

The game AEK – Olympiakos from the 16th round of the Super league finished 2:1. Even without a president and with their problems yet unsolved, the team of AEK showed a fabulous game and proved to all its fans who had gathered at the stadium that everyone who stopped believing in the team is wrong… Even though in the first few minutes of the first half the yellow and black team played haltingly and timidly, from the 16th minute on until the last minute of the game they literary bombed the goal post of Olympiakos. First serious attempt for goal in the game was for the team of Olympiakos in the 8th minute made by the midfielder Maresca. The first attempt of AEK to score was in the 16th minute when the attacking midfielder of the team Scocco send the ball in the enemy’s goal post, but it passed by the post. In the 25th minute there was a very good goal position in front of the goal post of the hosts, however the forward Djebbour was not enough confident and goalkeeper Nikopolidis saved the ball.

In the 27th minute was scored the first goal in the game – midfielder of the red and white team Papadopoulos scored against AEK with almost no defense in front of the goal post of Arampatzis. After the second part of first half AEK players grew a lot stronger in their game and became more offensive. In the 29th minute a goal attempt was made by Manduca, but goalkeeper Nikopolides managed to save the ball In the 32nd minute came the turning point when the result was evened with a wonderful goal scored by Scocco. This goal gave hope to the yellow and black team and set the beginning of a very coordinated and focused game. In the 41st minute the team of AEK got the upper hand on the hosting team by scoring their second goal. It was Scocco again who scored the goal, which was made from a foul. This was exactly the goal which made a great part of the fans of Olympiakos leave the stadium…

The score of the first half obviously stimulated the players of AEK and in the second half they tried to create numerous goal positions. There were moments when they were literary bombing the goal post of Olympiakos.

After the loss of the first half, players of Olympiakos never managed to make up for it even though there were many goal positions. The unsuccessful attempts of the hosts to even the score lasted until the end of the game and finished with the lost chances of Mitroglou and Torrosidis.
