Because of security reasons the organizers of Rally Acropolis decided to cancel the last two stages – Loutraki 2 and Aghi Theodori 2, because the spectators were too many and at the inappropriate positions.

We must note that organization was the weak spot of the organizers.

Regarding drivers, cars, and the route, the organization as good but when it came to the spectators, the organizers had not done anything. Missing were also simple directions signs of the main roads, leading to the routes.

Hours before the start, the spectators had filled both sides of the route at the spots with the best views. Due to the high risk for the people’s and driver’s security, the organizers had to cancel the last two stages of the rally.

With today’s victory, the leader in the temporary ranking Mikko Hirvonen reduced his difference against the overall leader Sebastien Loeb with seven points – 55 to 48. This was the eighth victory in his career.

Yesterday, when he entered the service park, the driver shared that today he will be very cautious and he will try to keep his second day lead in this very hard, according to him, rally.

“It seemed very hard but at the end, everything finished well,” said Mikko Hirvonen. “Those were three great fighting days, without mistakes and with a very intelligent driving. Before the rally we thought that if we leave our problems aside, we will finish in one of the leading positions and this is exactly what happened.”

The Greek representatives – Lambros Atanasoulas and Nikos Zakheos made very good times with their car Skoda Fabia S2000.

1. Mikko Hirvonen – Jarmo Lehtinen (FIN/Ford Focus) 4:09:42.5

2. Sebastien Ogier – Julien Ingrassia (Fr./Citroen C4) -1:22.9

3. Jari Matti Latvala – Miika Anttila (FIN/Ford Focus) -1:45.0
