The uncertainty about who will take the destiny of Panathinaikos football team in his hands will last until Friday. After yesterday at a meeting of the board of directors suddenly President Nicolas Pateras handed his resignation, his functions were taken over by the vice president Antonis Antoniadis for one week. Antoniadis will be president until Friday, 28.05. When the next meeting will be held, during which will be elected a new president of the team.

Shareholders of the club disagree with the resignation of Pateras. They categorically rejected his decision to leave, and Thanasis Yanakopoulos even said that if his Pateras "goes" he himself will also "go". Unpleasantly surprised are also the fans of Panathinaikos. After the end of the meeting they followed Pateras up to his office in Kolonaki and insisted that he overrides his decision.

What will be the final solution to the problem is still unclear. Hope even though small raises the fact that Pateras did not withdraw from the Board of directors. Some media even called the resignation "apparent" and in his decision to retire they see a tactical move rather than a real desire to leave the presidential seat.

Apparent or not th news of the resignation of Pateras created unrest in the media. Moreover, after the end of the meeting in no way he allowed to be found out what happened in the hall. When speaking to reporters he only said that it was voted an increase the share capital of 15 million euros and that Costas did Andoniou has accounted for the club ... About the decision of the president to abandon his current functions informed the Director of his Bureau Stefanos Isayas.

In his written application as the main reason for the resignation Pateras points out the intolerance to injustice. He reported about the war that was declared and about the offensive articles in the newspaper “Prasini”. He claims that some recognize the successes of the team only if they do not conflict with their goals and ambitions. Pateras thanked for the contribution and support of the management, shareholders of the club and the fans of the club. He expresses special thanks to Andreas Vgenopoulos who in his words since the very beginning stood beside him and supported him. Here is a snippet from the application of the former president: "My first public performance after years of work in Panathinaikos was on April 13, 2008, when people who demonstrated outside the stadium were more than those who were in it. My last public appearance was on May 2, 2010 when as president of the Super League I handed the captain of the team the Cup of Greece and 60 thousand fans celebrated at the stadium OAKA winning the double. 22 months ago I took over a team without plan for the coming day in a climate of distrust and uncertainty, and with no defense... Today I hand over a team champion and winner of the Cup of the country with the mentality of a winner, with guaranteed participation in the rounds of the Champions League, with players who raised the price of the team, with united fans, with a record number of tickets sold, a team which won a competitive and institutional space and the respect, which is owed to the team. So I got the love and appreciation of the people but at the same time there was a terrible dirty war from all those who have not supported the success of the team if it was not in tune with their goals and desires. The dirt increased in the recent months ... – allegedly with "poor management" and "everyone I should accept in order to continue to be president." Thanks for the cooperation of all board members, to all working in PAE and of course coaching team and football players of Panathinaikos .... Most thanks to the fans for their support and love as they were the driving force for me achieving our goal ... "
