Having testified before the investigator in Trikala, two of those arrested for involvement in a criminal channel for trafficking of babies remain in custody and the rest have been released.

The local news website trikalavoice.gr reports that the 45-year-old Bulgarian man who is considered the leader of the group and the 45-year-old Greek woman who is probably the intermediary between the "sellers" and "buyers" are detained while awaiting trial.

The mother of the baby, aged 29, the Bulgarian man, aged 33 and the employee of the emergency department in Trikala have been released and a ban from leaving the country has been imposed on them as well as the obligation to appear at the local police station. The publication states that the 33-year-old man is the husband of the woman but it is not clear whether he is the father of the child.

The judicial authorities have also released the lawyer, aged 49, and the notary, aged 48, against a 20,000-euro guarantee and a ban from leaving the country.
