Sotiria, the specialized hospital for lung diseases has admitted a patient, who works in one of the famous  restaurants in Syntagma Square, after finding out that this is a tubercular case.

An announcement by the Health service in the Attica region notes that all the other restaurant workers have been tested as well.

“Everybody was tested with a tuberculin sensitivity test. 9 out of the total of 18 workers had positive results. They have already been subjected to additional laboratory analyses, the results of which are expected. Their family members and people who had had a close contact with them are under preventive drug treatment.”

The same therapy is recommended for a month also to the rest of the staff with negative results.

According to health experts, tuberculosis is not transmitted through food. But pulmonary tuberculosis, especially indoors, can be transmitted via the respiratory route.

Expect further details.
