As secretary of the Federation of workers at DEI, Rizos supported the election of Nikos Fotopoulos as President of the Federation in 2007. In the last elections in 2012, he won 2 seats and supported Fotopoulos again. In April 2013, with Fotopoulos’s help, Rizos Rizos managed to regain his position on the Board of the Public Power Corporation. Today, Rizos is a regular member of the Board of the Federation of workers at DEI.

The former Secretary of the union has remained at DEI despite his retirement age. The strange thing is that the company has the right to terminate contracts of those who have reached retirement age and in this way renew its staff, which is of prime necessity. The company does not keep these people because of professional needs - these are the so-called "immovable" employees who are mainly trade unionists.
