The interim autumn sales that will last for 10 days will start on Saturday, as reported by the Association of Retailers in Athens.

During the sales, shops will remain open on Sunday, 2 November 2014, in accordance with article 16, section 1 of the law, the opening hours offered by the Association being from 11:00 am to 06:00 pm.

It is allowed to indicate the discount rate during the sales, in addition to the old and the new price of the goods and services that are sold at a discount.

The Association of Retailers in Thessaloniki has taken such a decision as well. Shops there are also allowed to open on 2 November, the first Sunday of the interim period, with the same opening hours, namely from 11:00 am to 06:00 pm.

Under the law, those companies that violate the regulations on sales will be fined to the amount of 0.5% of their annual turnover, but not less than 5,000 euro.

If a company is fined again for the same offence within five years, the amount of the fine will increase to 3% of its annual turnover.

If the information on discounts is not accurate or misleading in terms of the percentage, accuracy of the indicated price or the quantity of the products offered at a discount, the fine imposed will be 1% of the annual turnover of the company, but not less than 10,000 euro.

If a company is fined again for the same offence within five years, the amount of the fine will increase to 3% of its annual turnover.
