Flood rains and thunder storms have hit the entire land of Greece since yesterday. The storms which are atypical for a Greek September have already claimed the life of a 40 year old man, while another man - 66 years of age - has gone missing. A lady has been mildly injured and tens of houses and cars have been swamped, causing a number of major roads to be closed.

The situation is worst at the Euboea island, where the 40 year old man found his death. He left home last night to call for his shift at the Police Department, but his car was swept away by the upcoming river. A restless search for him was organized by his colleagues at the Police, only to discover his body early in the morning. The Police, Fire Department and Coast Guard are continuing the search for another 66 year old male, who went for a swim in the sea yesterday and has never been seen since.

The upcoming waters of the Liland river at the southern part of Euboea were responsible for flooding a number of houses and injuring a woman on the island, with no imminent threat on her life. In the Oksilind region, waters swept a Swedish tourist's caravan away, while he failed to leave the premises on time. His life was saved following a special operation involving a Super-puma helicopter. Situation is even worse in the villages of Vassiliko, Eretria and Amartint on the Euboea island. The Samaria passage in Crete was today closed due to the bad weather.

Meteorologists assure, that starting this afternoon, whether is expected to improve significantly.
