Seven out of ten Greeks approve neither the Prime Minister George Papandreou, nor the opposition leader Andonis Samaras. 44.4% of the Greeks prefer a coalition government. Over half of the participants in the Kappa Research survey or 52.7% approve the economic control of Greece by the financial Troika.

As for the political leaders, however, the ratings are more than negative. In particular, 72.2% of the respondents answered the question about the policy of Prime Minister Papandreou "I disapprove" or "I do not fully disapprove". The percentage of Andonis Samaras is slightly higher. 73% of the people disagree with his modus operandi as the leader of the main opposition party.

"George Papandreou and the government do not know where they are going and the plan they are following is changing daily," is the conclusion of 84.1% of the people, and only 13.2% believe that the Greek government "has a clear focus and follows a particular clear-sighted plan." The majority or 61.9% of the respondents believe that the government’s policy in cooperation with the Troika is in "the wrong direction."

In response to the question "Which of the following you think would be the best solution in the case of elections," 44.4% of the Greeks prefer a government including all political forces. Then follow: "PASOK government" with 10.5%, "a government with the participation of PASOK and New Democracy" with 9%, "a coalition government with the participation of PASOK and the smaller parties" with 8.6% and "a government of New Democracy" - 7,5%.

The question "Which of these types of ruling you think the country needs to deal effectively with the crisis" has three options for response. Most of the respondents or 40.2% prefer "a democratic government elected by the people." 30.9% of the Greeks do want to be ruled by "a group of professionals and technocrats to run the state affairs, instead of a government." Another significant part of the Greeks or 22.7% prefer "a leader with reputation and power to take quick decisions, without being prevented by the Parliament and the elections." According to the analysis of the survey results in the Vima newspaper, the interpretation of this view is "simple and particularly disturbing: One in five Greeks believes that the country needs a ruler with excessive power who will act even against the will of people and the votes in Parliament."

The opinion poll was conducted between May 18 to 24 with the participation of 1169 men and women from all administrative areas of Greece.
