Sect of Revolutionaries assumed responsibility for the murder of the 37-year-old journalist Sokratis Giolias nine days ago by leaving a manifesto in the Nikea district yesterday. It was published verbatim in the Greek newspaper Ta Nea. The manifesto contains threats against journalists, publishers, police, prosecutors, officers and directors of prisons, social workers and insulting words to athletes involved in doping scandals. Among the names of publishers and journalists, which the authors of the leaflet insult severely, are Petros Costopoulos – the popular since the early 1990s publisher of Click and Max magazines, the Ola 10 TV show host Temos Anastasiadis, the publisher of Theme newspaper – the investigating journalist Makis Triandafilopulos, the news host Nikos Hadzinikolau, the former owner of Alpha TV Dimitris Kondominas whose media adviser the murdered Sokratis Giolias was.

According to the Naftemboriki Newspaper, unknown person called on the phone in the editorial office of Ta Nea Newspaper and indicated the exact place where the manifesto was left. Newspaper editors, who have gone to the place, found a seven-page text written on sheets of paper, not in electronic format stored on a CD as the previous texts. The text found was in an yellow envelope left in the Nickea district. It was sent to police laboratories to determine whether there are finger prints.

The anti-terror services have investigated the place where the manifesto was left. In addition to the threats, the author of the text stated that the organization has weapons that were not used in the attacks so far. Also, it appears that members of the organization most likely cooperate with members of other armed organizations and have developed information network. A picture of many new weapons including Kalashnikov automats, which the terrorist organization has acquired, was attached to the manifesto. The text is titled “The sect is arming again.”

The text of the organization specifies the reasons for the murder of the journalist, which is characterized as “employment accident”, says Vima Newspaper. Terrorists linked it to the Vatoped cases and the doping scandals as well as with certain blogs of the 37-year Giolias which he had used as “means of manipulation”. The terrorists stated Sokratis Giolias was guarded by two policemen and described in detail the daily life of the journalist in the manifesto. The Ministry of Citizen Protection denied the information that Giolias had guards, noting that he had private guards for a certain period of time in the past.
