Four students from a school in Patmos filed a complaint against policemen. The teenagers said that the policemen harassed them psychologically after blaming them of causing damage to a police motorcycle.

The incident happened during last September. According to the story of the students, they were sitting in a coffee shop when the policemen approached them and ordered them to follow them to the local police station. There they exercised psychological pressure over the students and through their efforts to obtain confessions for the damage, they made them strip their clothes. Once the students returned to their homes, they told their parents, who headed straightway to police station. The father of one of the boys reported that the policeman on duty did not deny what happened and he even defended his colleagues by saying that what happened was legal. The father said that he will sue the police for the violence, but the policeman replied advised him not to undertake such actions, because nothing good will come out of it, the case will take 5-6 years and meanwhile the children will suffer from the complaint.

The students and their parents want the police to be prosecuted with allegations of harassment, breach of official duty and unprovoked insult. They have also informed the Minister for the Civil Protection about taking the appropriate measures. Chief of Staff of the Greek police announced that it has ordered an immediate report on the case, which will establish the grounds of the complaint and the possible criminal prosecution against the mentioned officials.

The Greek Children Rights ombudsman Giorgios Moshos advised the parents to seek assistance from the ombudsman of the Republic.
