The president of AEK Stavros Adamidis will eventually entrust his players to the Spaniard Manolo Jiménez. Jiménez proved to be the best solution for the yellow-blacks and they are confident from the club that the coach will justify their expectations and will significantly improve the image of the team.

AEK was in the best position to choose between two strong candidates. They have chosen the Frenchman Paul Le Guen, the last season coach of Cameroon, at first. After much deliberation, however, the name of Jiménez outweighed. The Spaniard showed greater willingness to take on the team, which influenced the final decision.

The 46-year-old former coach of Sevilla will attempt to take the team out of the difficult situation it is in now. Jiménez is known for his tenacity and faith in what he is doing. He is also known for his skills to lay the foundations of a team. This is what AEK exactly needs. The Spaniard is known for his accurate assessments and forecasts of young players’ development too.

When working with his first team, he led the players to the Champions League, where they qualified 16th for the first time in the history of the team. He trained Sevilla Atletico between 2000 and 2007. Then in 2007 the management of Seville called him to take the place of Ramos. The team ranked fourth at the end of the season. Due to the draw in the match with Atletico Madrid, Sevilla lost the right to participate in the Champions League. The next season the team ranked third. In 2010, the team won the Cup of Spain in the finals after defeating Atletico Madrid although Jiménez, wasn’t its coach.

Three draws and two losses are the latest results of the work of Jiménez with Sevilla. The team ranked first in the seventh round of the Champions League. It dropped out of the 16th, however, as CSKA Moscow defeated it in Moscow where the match ended in draw and it lost the match in Seville. The last match of Jiménez was on March 24, 2010, when Seville and Jerez ended in draw.

The Spanish coach will have a lot of work and little time with AEK as the team will play its first match with Aris still on October 17, 2010.
