It seems that the candidate of PASOK Georgeous Kaminis will win the election for Mayor of Athens, according to the poll of about 10 percent of the votes. Kaminis leads with 50.9 percent against the former mayor of New Democracy Nikitas Kaklamanis, who gathered  49.2 percent of the ballots. If this trend continues, Georgeous Kaminis will become the first Socialist mayor of Athens in the last 24 years.
In very tough competition in the second largest city in Greece Thessaloniki wins the candidate of the right party Costas Giulekas against the candidate backed by the governing Socialists Yannis Boutaris. Its color changes the traditionally left oriented Piraeus, which will most likely have a right oriented mayor - Vassilis Mihalolyakos who is winning against the candidate considered to be a favorite Yannis Mihas.
With a large lead the candidate of PASOK Yannis Sgouros is winning against the supported by New Democracy candidate Vassilis Kikilias in the largest electoral unit in the European Union - the municipality Attica. In the rest of the municipalities for now the situation looks like this: PASOK leads in western Greece, North Aegean, Peloponnese and eastern Macedonia and Thrace, while the opposition has an advantage in Central Macedonia, Epirus, Western Macedonia, Thessaly and the Ionian Islands.
    Expect further details.
