The Greek parliament has submitted to the court the case of former Minister of Finance George Papakonstantinou. He will have to respond to charges of falsifying documents and fraud while he was performing his official duties to the degree of felony, and of exceeding his authority to the degree of criminal offence. The parliamentary report also states that the specific crimes are not covered by the statute of limitations.

The report which bears the signatures of the members of New Democracy, PASOK and Democratic Left states, "It is more than obvious that the criminal actions of falsifying documents, fraud and exceeding authority were committed at the time when George Papakonstantinou was serving as Minister of Finance."

At the same time, the commission investigating the "Lagarde List" case has completed its work with cries which could be heard on the ground floor of the parliament. Its chairman Christos Markogiannakis had convened a meeting to discuss and vote on the final report which, however, was not presented to the members. Nevertheless, the chairmen stated that it should be voted.

The representatives of SYRIZA and Independent Greeks insisted on giving them time in order for them to be able to submit their reports but their request was not accepted. During the meeting there were a few verbal "skirmishes" between chairman Christos Markogiannakis and SYRIZA’s deputy Zoe Konstandopoulou who said that "even the junta had not acted that way." In response, PASOK deputy Konstantinos Rigas called her a "joker". Vassilis Kapernaros, a deputy of Independent Greeks and a lawyer, made similar remarks and stated, "The junta had self-esteem at least and had not acted so provocatively."

SYRIZA has submitted a note of protest to the chairman of parliament and asked for a new sitting of the commission. According to the main opposition party, the procedure will be invalid otherwise.

The Communist Party has also submitted a report which also includes the three accusations regarding the former Minister of Finance. At the same time, however, it holds accountable former Prime Minister George Papandreou who "was aware of the existence of the list" and present Deputy Prime Minister Evangelos Venizelos "for not using it."

For its part, Golden Dawn has also submitted a report of its own, not to the parliament but to "the people and the Greek justice" instead. The xenophobes are seeking criminal persecution for George Papakonstantinou, Evangelos Venizelos and George Papandreou in connection with "the forming of a criminal group."
