Greece will not have a new government of national agreement, stated the Prime Minister George Papandreou in a short but clear speech broadcasted on Greek televisions. He announced that he will propose a new government to the Parliament tomorrow, expecting support from his own parliamentary group.

"We took responsibility for others' mistakes and spent 20 months fighting to prevent the bankruptcy of the state," said Papandreou. He admitted he himself had initiated a conversation with the leader of the largest opposition party New Democracy Antonis Samaras. He was greatly surprised, however, when Samaras has spread the content of their conversation among the journalists even before they two agreed on anything. "Instead of responding in dignity to the importance of the moment and to start a dialogue on the merits, the opposition preferred to start playing games to win public opinion," said George Papandreou.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister chooses to go on alone. Tomorrow he will submit a proposal for a new cabinet, which must be approved by the Parliament. Papandreou can now only rely on the possible support of his own parliamentary group.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister chooses to continue alone. Tomorrow he will submit a proposal for a new cabinet, which must be approved by the Parliament. Papandreou can now only rely on the possible support of his own parliamentary group. Papandreou's statement was preceded by lively contacts with political and government leaders of Greece. His cabinet ministers, the members of the PASOK parliamentary group, and senior functionaries of the Socialist party knew about the initiatives of the Prime Minister from the media.

The names of the new candidates for ministers will be announced tomorrow, and the Greek Parliament will have to approve them on Friday.

Meanwhile, the global market put Greece and its banks to their knees with the CCC credit rating - the lowest position before the actual insolvency. The Greek spread-index reached the unprecedented 1530 points, and the CDS insurances marked a historical peak. While discussing on the new rescue plan for Greece - how, how much it will cost and who will participate in it - the European Union insists on national consensus for the imperative painful reforms. At the same time, the street pressure against the policy of fiscal consolidation continues.
