Panellinios kissed good bye its dreams for participation in the finals of the Eurocup

With a score of 80-92 finished the basketball game between the teams of Panellionios and Valencia from the quarterfinals of the Eurocup. With its loss tonight Panellinios lost any hope for further qualification in the finals. So the team will have to fight for taking of the third place against the team which loses between the couple of Bilbao - Alba - Berlin team.

The Greeks started the match very confident. They easily managed to gain an advantage and so in the first 10 minutes they led by 15 -10. For the accumulated advantage contributed most the points scored by David Smith. Valencia did not let the guests for a long time be the winners on the field. It organized a strong counterattack thanks to which it succeeded in evening the result and at the end of the set it led by 28-22.

In the second set the Spanish continued to gain advantage. They won a high number of triple points thereby ensured a lasting difference in the outcome. Panellinios was not leaving behind in their attempts to catch up with the hosts, but unfortunately could not respond with the same force to their attacks. Marinovich and De Colo were players who made the greatest contribution for the Spanish to lead significantly in the result. The first half ended with 14 points difference in favor of the hosts, 53-39.

In the second half guests entered the field psychologically reinforced. They played much more mobilized and calmly and tried to lay the foundations for a new beginning in the game. Again stepped up their attacks and were able to reduce the gap to 44-53. Minutes later, they even reduced the gap to only 6 points - 69-75. The team of Valencia was definitely more tired but still managed to maintain its position. The turning point in the score came when the player of Valencia Matt Nielsen scored 3 points basket, which launched a new ascending line in the game of the hosts. After the basket of Nielsen Panellinios failed to make up the difference and thus the end of their dreams for the Eurocup finals could already be seen ...
