The score of the match between the teams of Panathinaikos and Rubin Kazan, played on the OAKA stadium in Athens, is 0:0. The greens were not in shape again and they played more defensively than to score a goal, excluding the last 15 minutes. The score of the last night diminished their chances to rank among the 16. The only one point they have placed them last in the group...

Neither the 45 000 people that gathered on the Olympic stadium, nor the eagerness of Cisse to score helped the outcome. The forward was utterly alone last night.

The hosts did not press the opponent and the match was sluggish still at the beginning. Panathinaikos hardly created goal chances to the middle of the first half. The Russians who threatened Tzorvas’ net twice were more dangerous. The player Noboa made the first attempt to score but the ball went out. Then, a minute later, Kornilenko threatened the Greek net but the ball went near the beam and...the goal of the guests was escaped.

Panathinaikos moved and proceeded to attack only during the 27th minute, though with no result. New attacks by the Russians followed immediately after that. Ryazantsev made a good attempt to score but Tzorvas saved the ball. It was obvious that the players of Rubin are in better shape. They ruled the ball and did not miss a chance to try to take the lead in the result. Kasaev made a very serious attempt to score in the 37th minute but Tzorvas was there.

The greens finally created a good chance to score at the end of the first half. Cisse tried to score with head, but the ball came out. The Frenchman was too alone in front of the net of the guests to be able to help his team.

The worse was the shape of Panathinaikos’ players last night the better was the shape of their goalkeeper. Tzorvas had the chance to show his abilities again after several unsuccessful performances. When Kasaev made the ball to the net of Panathinaikos with a strong kick in the 63rd minute Tzorvas pushed it away skillfully.

The Russian team became even more aggressive at the end of the match. The crowd on the stadium got even more nervous ... The goal of the greens wasn’t coming. Resentment grew further in the 77th minute when Cisse finally scored a goal with head. Subsequently, however, it was defined as an off-side and...cancelled. There was a great chance to score in the 92nd minute when Vintra headed the ball to Rubin Kazan’s net but there was no change in the outcome...
