If you bet €10 on the socialists and they win you will get only €0,60 but if you bet €10 on New Democracy and they win, you will get €155! The three biggest betting websites show a sure victory for the socialistic opposition on the Greek elections on October 4.
www.betoto.com/en/politics offers only 1.03% return on bets for PASOK, 9% for New Democracy and 255% for the rest of the parties, which do not stand a chance of winning.
www.sports.betfair.com offers 1.06% return on bets for PASOK, 15.5% for New Democracy and 95% for the other parties.
www.unbet.com/betting offers 1.04% return on bets for PASOK, 5.5% for New Democracy, 50% for the Greek communist party, 75% for the Radical Leftists and for the far right LAOS and 150% for the Green Ecologists.
The ones, who are familiar with placing bets - sports, political or the ones for Eurovision, say that the three websites have very accurately guessed the election result of the previous election in 2007. Pretty much the same results came out from 6 public opinion agencies, which were announced today. According to all of them, PASOK's lead is between 4.7% and 6.2% and it would ensure the party a very comfortable majority in the parliament.
The results for the best PM are not so obvious. According to the survey of MARC agency, the socialist leader Georgios Papandreou gets approved by 40.2% and the New Democracy leader Kostas Karamanlis - 37.8%. Based on research by Public Issue the two politicians have equal approval - 38%. MRB's survey shows that Karamanlis is approved by 38% and Papandreou by 36.3%. The percentage difference is even bigger according to Rass agency, according to which 44.7% prefer Karamanlis and 37.1% - Papandreou.
