Vima newspaper announced that the discovered women trafficking network includes few policemen who were inciting women from Russia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Romania to prostitute.

Those women come to Greece to start a new and better life and it comes out that at the end they are on the street prostituting. Their arrival in Greece was organized by four higher position policemen, working in the Foreigners department in the police, which caused disgust in the public opinion.

This network was the biggest active one in the country and it was existing for the last three years. Except for the policemen, many other people are involved in it. A primary role in it had a fired policeman, who in the past was charged for trafficking women and head of the organization is a 57 year old businessman.

24 people have been arrested until now and another 42 people have been charged. Based on primary data, two of the involved policemen have been charged for criminal behavior in the past but after a court order they were appointed in the force again.

150 policemen from the newly founded Delta force took part in the discovery of the women trafficking network. The policemen had investigated eight striptease clubs, four brothels, two yachts and ten private homes. Questioned were more than 200 people.

The policemen’s role in this network was to inform the other members about surprise police visits in night clubs and brothels. Meanwhile the policemen had to issue residence and work permits for all foreign women, who were working in the striptease bars and in the brothels.

The network was organized from five parties, which were dealing with various activities. The first one are the managers of two nightclubs in Athens and one in Germany, who were planning to open another two clubs in the Athenian neighborhood Peristeri and in Rhodes. The second one had the hard job – they were managing at least 12 brothels around Athens and the third one was “delivering” women, who were found from ads or websites from Russia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Romania. After lying to them, they used to lock them in apartments and force them to become prostitutes.

The forth party were the policemen and the fifth one were the people who were “laundering” the money. The members of the fifth party were reporting to the boss of the organization for tens of millions of dollars, which were earned by the girls. The members also had the task to “launder” the money through offshore accounts, which dealt with car trade, yacht purchasing, one restaurant and few nightclubs. Sometimes they even bought lottery winner tickets. The police announced the names of the ones involved in the women trafficking business, including the names of the four policemen, as reported by Vima newspaper.
