Strong handmade device exploded at 04:35AM in front of the Tax department building in the central neighborhood Ambelokipi. Forty minutes earlier an unknown individual called the editor’s office of Eleftherotipia and Ta Nea and warned them about the explosion. The police had closed off all streets around the explosive right away. Bomb dismantling experts are at the accident scene, who are gathering parts from the handmade device and looking for any evidence, which will lead to its maker.

The noise from the explosion woke up everyone in the nearby buildings. The people went out on their balconies and saw a big dust cloud. The massive explosion caused serious damages to the tax department building and to the nearby McDonalds. Many windows are broken on neighboring buildings.

The investigation is undertaken by the Antiterrorism Services, whose experts recognize the signature of the terrorist organization Revolutionary Fight, because they have examined the handmade device and have played back the call to Eleftherotipia and Ta Nea. The police does not exclude the possibility for McDonalds to be the real target, and not the tax department, because it is an American chain.
