Hail and thunderstorms ruined two of the four days of the Rockwave Festival in Athens. Duffy, The Killers, Eden James, Tricky, and W.A.S.P’s fans left soaking and disappointed. Journalists from the Greek media noted that it is unseen for a festival to get cancelled because of rain and according to the organizers the technical equipment has been destroyed, which made it dangerous for the public to be present and for the performers to play.

The most damages brought the Sunday rain and the technical staff did everything in their power to keep the Monday concerts on schedule. But the weather had different plans – new thunderstorm, which started a little before 05:00PM was the reason for the third concert in Malakasa to get cancelled.

Nikos Loris, organizer from Didi Music said that “there are some journalists who are throwing mud in the face of the company and this is a vulgar and very precise attack against the festival.” Meanwhile, internet blogs are getting overfilled with angry and disappointed comments from fans, which shows that slowly the public is losing its desire to go to concerts.

This summer did not start well for concert organizers – concerts are getting cancelled, the fans are unhappy, ticket prices are going up, and all this on one hand is harming the organizers but on the other is repelling the fans.

When it comes to the rain – it happens and no one is insured against bad weather but this is why other countries take the necessary measures, so that concerts will not get cancelled and the fans will be happy.

Those who have tickets for the cancelled concerts will be able to take their money back in the box offices of Ticket House (42 Panapestimiou Blvd), from July 6th until August 6th.
