The Athenian geodynamic institute announced that a 5.9 quake shook Crete. This happened at 12:30PM and the epicenter was 450km southeast of Athens and 170km south of Crete (the epicenter is marked with a red dot on the map). Right after the first shock there was another one, which was 4.7.

The earthquakes were felt strongly on the southern coast of Crete and less in the administrative center of the island – Iraklio. As of now, there is no information about any victims or damages.
