One more insolent terrorist attack against the Greek police claimed its victim this morning in the central neighborhood Patisia. Dead is a 40 year old policeman, who was guarding the house of a witness on the case against the terrorist organization National Revolutionary Fight. About 06:00AM the man started his shift in front of Sophia Kiriakidou’s house, on 2 Dimitrakopoulou street. Throughout the night, guarding the house were both of the policeman’s brothers. At 06:30AM the policeman was sitting in the police car, when two people approached him on a motorcycle and fired pointblank 20 bullets in his body. The two killers had shot with at least two weapons and the police believe there was even a third one. After they made sure that their victim has no chances of surviving, they left the crime scene. The policeman died right away.

Sophia Kiriakidou is the former wife of Angeletos Kanas – member of the terrorist organization National Revolutionary Fight. The woman is also the sole witness against him in the court case against the members of the terrorist organization. According to the Greek police this was a terrorist attack. Until now, no organization has taken responsibility of the execution. At first, the policemen thought that the murder is done by Revolutionary Fight, the terrorist organization, which three years ago threw a grenade at the building of the US Embassy in Athens. 24 cartridge cases have been found on the murder scene and at least nine of them are from a nine millimeter MP-5 gun – trademark of the Revolutionary Fight terrorists. The same weapon was used in the attack against a police car in front of the Culture Ministry on January 5th 2009 and in the attack against the police station in Nea Ionia in 2007.

Later on the ballistic expertise proved that the murderers are members of the Revolutionary Sect - new terrorist organization, which started working this year and it has two attacks, one of which is the shooting at the police station in Koridalos.
