A bit before 03:00am there was a medium sized explosion near to the Tax department in the luxurious suburb Psihiko in Athens. This neighborhood is the home of many diplomatic representatives in the Greek capital, including the Bulgarian embassy and the residence of the Bulgarian ambassador. 10 minutes earlier an anonymous call was received in the editor’s office in Elefterotipia newspaper, which said: “In 10 minutes a bomb will explode in front of the tax department on Kifisia Boulevard. The responsibility is taken by “Armed revolutionary action.”

Employees of the newspaper warned the police, which together with the Devices Detonation Services, blocked all roads around the tax department. The exploded device is evaluated by experts as “medium” either due to a defect in the connections of the device or due to low quality explosive material. The material damages are not much. The investigation of the case is taken by the anti-terrorist services. The central boulevard Kifisia remained closed for few hours around the area of the tax department.

The terrorists from “Armed revolutionary action” are well known to the police, because of another two attacks. In 2007 they put a bomb in front of the tax department in Argiroupouli and in 2008 they attacked the Forest Directorate of East Attika area.

About one hour before that last night, unknown individuals threw Molotov cocktails at the local organization of New Democracy in Lambrini.
