Late last night about ten people with hoods attacked a police station in the northern Athenian suburb Melisia. The terrorist were armed with Molotov bombs. They approached the building from the back side and started throwing the bombs, which started a huge fire. Two parked nearby cars have been completely burnt and another four affected. Among those cars are 2 private and the rest are of the police department.

One of the policemen, who were on duty at that time, shot two times in the air in order to try and scare the attackers and another one threw two handmade lighting bombs are them, again in an attempt to scare the criminals. After the attack, the terrorist ran away – some walking and other with motorcycles. The investigation of the case is taken by the Greek anti-terrorist services. Until now no organization has taken responsibility for the attack.

The attack of the Melisia police station did not end the worries of the authorities last night. Between 01:03am and 01:25am three handmade devices exploded in front of three banks in Athens. Two of them were in neighborhoods close to Melisia – in Marousi a device exploded in front of Alpha Bank branch, and in Halandri in front of an Aspis bank branch. Another explosion happened in front of a Millennium bank branch in the coastal neighborhood Paleo Faliro. Fortunately, the explosion caused only material damages.
