Today was confirmed the fifth case of swine flu in Greece. The infected is a 30 year old man, who had arrived from New York few days ago. Right now he is in the Athenian hospital “Sotiria.”

An announcement by the Ministry of Health says: “Today a 30 year old man was diagnosed with the new flu A virus (H1N1). The patient is under medical supervision and all necessary procedures have been made. One of the last three patients has been cured and sent home on Saturday and the other two are still in the hospital with mild symptoms. We should note that there are no reasons for worry. The health services are aware and ready to act in all cases.”

The infected man has arrived in Athens with an airplane from New York and he had not had any symptoms prior to his arrival at the airport. After half a day, he felt ill-disposed and went to a private doctor, who advised him to go and be tested in a hospital. The results showed that the young man is infected with swine flu and he was immediately admitted in “Sotiria” hospital, where he will stay to be treated for the next five days.

The Ministry of Health announced that Greece is in the first stage of the flu dissemination, which is good news. In this stage, the infection comes in the country from abroad and all infected are identified easier and sent for medical treatment.

According to Reuters, at least 15 920 people in 57 countries have been officially infected with the H1N1 virus.
