The Theological School in Halki should be immediately opened- this will be demanded by the EU from the Turkey’s Minister of foreign affairs Ahmet Davutoĝlu. The uniform position of the 27 covers completely Greece and Cyprus’ requirements.

In addition, in its report on Turkey the Sub-Commission on prevention of discrimination to UN recommended measures in direction to solving the issues of the Greek minority in Turkey regarding the return of confiscated property. It was also recommended for the legislation to be modified in order to allow teaching of languages traditionally used in Turkey, Greek being one of them.

It is important that Ankara observes the European Court decisions on human rights. One such decision blames Turkey for infringing the Patriarchy’s property rights on the historical building “The price’s orphanage.” The building in question is the biggest wooden one in Europe, which in 1970 was deforced from the Patriarchy with a decision of the Turkish court, the excuse being that the Patriarchy is not a legal entity.
