19 year old student opened fire at another student close to the Professional Studies School in the central Athenian neighborhood Rendi. Close by there were two supermarket employees, who tries to help but were shot at too. At the end, the shooter shot himself in the head and later on, when he was taken to the hospital, died. The three injured were taken to the hospital. The 20 year old classmate of the shooter is in critical condition and is in surgery right now. The other two accidentally passing by people are not seriously hurt.

The incident happened around 08:30am this morning. A 19 year old electrical engineering student was talking to his 20 year old classmate and then suddenly took out a gun and started shooting. After that he started running away, when two supermarket employees caught up with him and tried to stop him – he shot at them as well. He managed to hide in a nearby park, where he pointed the gun to his head and tried to commit suicide. The police found two guns and a bag of bullets next to him.

All four injured are in a hospital in Nikia. The shooter had a severe gunshot wound in his head and was taken in surgery but died a little bit after that. While he was still conscious, he was pleading the doctors to save him. His classmate has gunshot wounds in his legs and chest and his condition is serious. Both supermarket employees have light injuries – one in the leg and the other one in the hand.

The shooter had left a parting letter, in which he says that his classmates were constantly offending and humiliating him. Teachers and students from the school say that he was quite, often melancholic and not social. The boy is Greek, born in the seceded from Georgia unrecognized Abkhazia.
