At around 03:00am last night a bomb exploded near to a CitiBank branch in the Athenian neighborhood Filotei. No people are hurt but there are many damages on the building and two cars, which were parked in front, are burnt. The bomb was placed in the back part of the bank branch and it was detonated from a distance with a 30 meter cable.

The region around the bank is closed off by the police forces. A sapper squad is investigating the scene, in order to reproduce the explosion and hopefully to catch the trails of those who detonated it. The Greek police is looking for a car with license plate number ZNT 8973, which according to witnesses is connected with the attack. According to the police, the license plate is either fake or stolen.

For now, the experts are sure that this is a terrorist attack and this is why the case is taken by the anti-terrorism services. This is the second attack against a CitiBank branch in Athens for the last month. In the middle of February, the police managed to dismantle a big quantity of explosives, hidden in a car, which was parked in a CitiBank branch in Kifisia. The responsibility for that took that Revolutionists Sect.

Until now no organization has taken the responsibility for the explosion in Filotei. The Greek police remind that the terrorists from Revolutionary Fight used an explosive with cable during 2004 when they attacked a Special Forces police bus in Rouf neighborhood.

During the day, two more banks were attacked – one in the center of Athens and another one in Neos Kosmos. Almost simultaneously, groups of about 20 anarchists with masks and hoods threw stones and broke windows of the National Bank of Greece at the center of the capital. The same was done to Proton bank in Neos Kosmos. In front of the eyes of scared bank employers, they broke windows and everything, which stood in their way. After that they ran away.
