The first winter skating-rink in Athens is finally a reality. It is situated in one of Athens luxury neighborhoods Glyfada – a neighborhood famous for its beach bars, clubs and coffee shops. The hot neighborhood spots have a cold fresh competitor named “Glyfada in ice.”

The skating-rink is 510 m and is in the liveliest part of the neighborhood. It is made by a special technology, which keeps the surface frozen even in cities with mild climate like Athens. An interesting fact is that constructions like this one are put together only for one night.

The winter rink took over the basketball court in the Indoor pool Palais de Sport and is surrounded with grass. Until mid May, it will be open every day from 11:00am to midnight. Ice-skates and hockey accessories will be rented out there.

Many demonstrations will be organized on the new rink – hockey, figure-skating, and ice-skating instructions. One of the first people who tried the rink is the Greek figure-skating winner Georgia Galani.

For those who want to organize a party in a more extreme environment, they can do it in the winter skating-rink in Glyfada for one unforgettable “Party on ice.”

Right now the company, which created winner skating-rinks for warmer climate countries, is making the longest ice track in the world. It will be made in Holland and is 5 kilometers long and for its construction, 30 000 km of ice will be used.
