Vandals attacked the electric train in Athens

Ten people dressed in carnival costumes set on fire, with Molotov cocktails, six out of the seven wagons of the electric train, which connects the Northern suburbs of Athens with Pieria. The incident happened around midnight. When the train arrived at the last stop in Kifisia, ten party-like masked passengers asked the rest of the passengers to leave the train and then set it on fire with hand made bombs. After that they hit the station security, splashed gas over the wagons and fired them up again.

10 fire trucks and 30 firefighters came in order to put out the fire. The Kifisia station is closed since early morning. The train goes from Pieria only to Irini next to the Olympic stadium in Athens. Another three stops remain closed – Neratziotissa, Marousi, and KAT. It is unclear when all stations will open. The responsibility of this vandalistic act is taken by the unknown until now organization “Athens-Thessaloniki fiery kernel gang.”
