Prison break with a chopper

The famous Greek mobster Vasilis Paleokostas and his Albanian accomplice Alket Ritzay successfully ran away from the strictly secured “Koridalos” prison at 03:30pm today. In a Hollywood manner, a helicopter approached to the “walks” field in the prison, where the two prisoners came out. A ladder came down from the helicopter and undisturbed the two climbed up. Then the warders came out and started shooting at the helicopter, which flew away without a problem. Unconfirmed information from zougla.gr tells us that two other prisoners ran away with them.

A little bit later the chopper landed in the Athenian suburb Kapandrite, the passengers got off and took a car, which was waiting for them there – the chopper was abandoned. Later the police found the helicopter’s pilot, who was left with a sack on his head. According to the pilot’s statement, he was kidnapped and forced to fly the helicopter. It is interesting to remind you that on June 4th 2006, the same two criminals managed to run away from prison in exactly the same spectacular way. Obviously the Greek police did not learn its lesson from 2006 and as everybody knows, the destiny gives us the same lesson over and over again until we learn it.

Why were the two criminals left alone on the “walk” field? How is it possible for a helicopter to approach them and be only two-three meters away from them and not even one warder saw it? These and more questions are expecting an answer from the Greek police.

Vasilis Paleokostas is Nikos Paleokostas’ big brother, who is a famous Greek gangster and who was also convicted and is serving his time in Koridalos. Vasilis is the main defendant in the case of the kidnapping of the businessman Giorgios Milonas, for whose release ?10 million were paid. After Paleokostas’ capture, only ?4 million were returned to the family, the other 6 the police is looking for until today.
