Unknown person shot with a “Kalashnikov” at a police booth in front of the Greek Ministry of Culture and severely injured one policeman. The incident happened at 03:05 am this morning. 21 year old Diamandis Madzounis was taken to the Red Cross hospital by his colleagues where he went under surgery in order for the internal bleeding to be handled and his life to be saved. The policeman is injured in the chest where the bullet entered under the shoulder and in the thigh. Those parts were not covered by the bullet prove vest.

27 fired-cartages were found on the crime scene from a “Kalashnikov” and 4 more from a 9 millimeter gun. Eye witnesses claim that a hand bomb was also thrown at the police patrol. The same one they use in the Greek army. “The ones who shot at Diamandis Madzounis aim at the Greek government and at the normal situation of the country. Soon they will understand that the government is strong and the society protected,” commented on the incident Minister of Internal Affairs Prokopsis Pavlopoulos.

A special session of the Chief Greek police direction was summoned after the incident. The police connect the attack of the policeman with the shooting of the police bus 10 days ago. Both cases are investigated by the Special Forces, which are fighting against terrorism. 72 people are arrested until now. Until late this morning most of Ekzarhia neighborhood was closed off by the Greek police.
