Around the world the climate may be getting warmer and warmer; here in Greece, however, the weather is unquestionably cooler this year. June came with daily showers, quite odd for these geographical widths. July began without the broiling heats, which in the capital Athens the sea-breeze reduces during August. This year, the heats that normally appear mid-June came on July 18. Today for the first time the temperatures reach the usual for the season 40 degrees.

As the Hellenic National Meteorological Service announces, summer storms slowly but surely step back to let the warm aerial masses enter Europe from Africa. Average maximum daily temperature is going to be 38-39 degrees, reaching above 40 in a lot of areas. The weather will be hottest in the Ionian Islands, in the continental parts, and in Thessaly and east Peloponnese.

Meteorologists say the temperatures are going to stay like this in Sunday too, as a minor lowering is expected from Monday on. On Wednesday, however, a new increase of temperatures is expected.
