Athens Municipality is inviting its residents and visitors to welcome together the New Year with a number of events that will begin on the eve of 2015.

Christmas workshops, theatre performances and art studios will fill this year’s last day with joyful and creative activities for children in Klafthmonos Square and on Panormou Street.

Several hours later, the action will move to Apostolou Pavlou Street where a rich musical programme with many surprises will be presented against the background of the Acropolis in order to duly celebrate the coming New Year.

The festive programme in Thiseio cannot but include the music ensembles of Athens Municipality.

This year, Athens residents and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a rich musical programme including Kostis Maraveias’ impressive multicultural performance. The Philharmonic Orchestra will open the event and the Symphony Orchestra will continue with its extremely rich repertoire.

Subsequently, Kostis Maraveias will take the torch, promising to entrain the audience of the best party of the year with his beautiful music and positive mood. The music event will end with folk music presented by the Greek Music Workshop of Athens Municipality and Babis Tsertos.

Klafthmonos Square

11:00 am - 12:00 pm: Christmas workshop: Sending a letter to Agios Vasilis (the Greek Santa Claus who brings gifts to children on 1 January)! Pehnidokamomata Kindergartens.

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm: Christmas workshop: Making a tree of wishes! Pehnidokamomata Kindergartens.

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm: Theatrical performance "Looking for elves!" Paperdollwise: Children are invited to discover the secret of elves disappearance.

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Music workshop: The music box of "Recycletown".

2:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Theatrical performance "Agios Vasilis and the living toys" by "Chronos Drasis" (Time for Action): "Agapi" (Love), the most beautiful doll with her magical abilities is ready to put the toys in boxes and wake up Agios Vasilis for this year's distribution of gifts.

Panormou Street and Larisi

12:00 pm - 2:00 pm: "People of the city!", an art studio with elements of theatrical game. What do the people who live in our city look like? How do they spend their days, how do they dress and how do they walk? Human paper figures will invite visitors to play and create their own portraits using a mixed technique, which will decorate the street sidewalk.
