Wild exultation and a "frenzy of joy" greeted the new coach of the football team of AEK, Manolo Jiménez. Minutes after his arrival at the airport Elevterios Venizelos in Athens, he had the opportunity to see for himself how warm and enthusiastic are the Greek fans welcoming him. The Spaniard's face was illuminated from a smile as soon as he saw the exultant crowd of nearly 100 people standing near the exit door.

They welcomed him in full force at the door and demanded that he "show what they are made of" to Olympiakos and the coach Ernesto Valverde. The crowd was loose in an absolute fever and did not give the Spaniard a chance to even answer the questions of journalists. The euphoria was really great, and the place fixed to meet was too small to accommodate such emotions. Confusion arose also occur among the operators who were forced to fight for every millimeter frame... In the few seconds of silence that followed after long entreaties on the part of the management of the club, the Spaniard managed to say he was very glad that he takes over AEK and will give 100% of his powers for the team. He intends to immediately roll his sleeves up and get started with the tough job. He thanked to everyone who trusted him and assured once again that he will do everything for the team and its fans.

Slightly bent, but with a smile on his face Jiménez barely came to the car... Security had difficult time making his way through the crowd of fans, who had surrounded him. Before entering the car he waved symbolically the AEK’s flag and... the excitement reached its peak. Photographers and cameramen barely made their way for some last exciting footage from the meeting. The smile did not fade out from the face of Jiménez even in the car. He was visibly delighted by the warm welcome.

Former coach of Sevilla takes over the yellow and black team as the successor of Dusan Bayevich, who coached the team for 12 years. He is known for his tenacity and belief in his work, and also for his skills in setting the foundations of a team. This is exactly what AEK needs. The Spaniard is famous also for his accurate assessments and forecasts for the development of young players. He is expected to open a new page in the history of the club.
