At about 3.45 am, three unknown hooded persons drove a van into the yard of the Microsoft office in the Athens suburb of Maroussi. Having forced the guards of the building to leave, the men fired at the van, which was loaded with petrol cans and flammable materials and exploded. The perpetrators escaped. Later, authorities found out that the van had been stolen.
The Athens office of Microsoft is located on 216, Kifissias Avenue. Three cars and a fire brigade team of nine people immediately arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames.
The investigation of the case is being handled by the anti-terrorism forces in Greece. The remains of the burned van were taken to special laboratories for testing. Representatives of the anti-terrorism forces are at the scene to collect additional evidence.
No organization has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Multinational companies and foreign banks are often the subject of attacks by Greek terrorist organizations. Despite the insignificant damage - the burned entrance and minor damage in the first floor offices, the anti-terrorism forces assessed the incident as very serious.
