Members of Golden Dawn have been deprived of security guards

Greek police will no longer protect the deputies of the Nazi Golden Dawn. The decision of the general directorate of the Greek police is in response to the violence of Golden Dawn’s members against immigrants in the market of the port of Rafina on Friday. Golden Dawn’s members said that they would continue to establish order the way they understood it. The reason for the police decision is the fact that the behaviour of those deputies put security guards in a difficult situation - to protect them on the one hand and to prevent violations of law and order on the other. The decision does not apply only to those policemen who guard the headquarters of the party and its general secretary Nikolaos Mihaloliakos.

By decision of the Minister of Citizen Protection, the head of police in Rafina has been temporarily relieved of his duties because of the "operational response to the case." An internal investigation has been ordered in the police station. "The Greek police are called to enforce the law and ensure the security of citizens and whoever tries to divert them from their duties will face justice," the official statement of the Ministry reads.
Yesterday, all parliamentary parties condemned the actions of Golden Dawn. "PASOK, SYRIZA and the Communist Party paved the way for emerging fascism," the official response of non-parliamentary Drasi reads. Citing the socialist message that "the actions of Golden Dawn are illegal and should be punished as such," Stefanos Manos’ party recalled how PASOK deputies had blocked the port of Piraeus to protest against its concession and how they had invaded and interrupted a meeting of the board of the Public Power Corporation. "Aren’t these illegal actions too," Drasi asked rhetorically.
Citing SYRIZA's comment "what happened in Rafina is another episode of Golden Dawn’s behaviour which is extremely challenging and dangerous to democracy," Drasi recalled the support of SYRIZA for the blockade of toll stations, which involved the leader of the radical left, and to the organized accommodation for immigrants on hunger strike in the building of the Law School at the University of Athens. "These are challenging and dangerous phenomena for democracy too," Drasi stated.
No mercy has been shown to the Communist Party of Greece either. Drasi responded to its words, "people should not tolerate Golden Dawn’s torture and demagogic actions" by recalling the actions of the communist trade union PAME, which had blocked the entrance to the Greek steel foundry and prevented thousands from exercising their right to work, and thousands of tourists in cruise ships. "Why do people have to tolerate PAME’s torture and demagogic acts," Drasi commented.
"Greek political parties must realize that their actions paved the way for Golden Dawn. They must apologize to the Greek society and begin to respect the law and comply with it. This is the only way to counter emerging fascism," Stefanos Manos’ party concluded.
