The position of the Lunar nodes in a birth horoscope is a major factor in human life. They show the "metabolism" of our lives - what we "consume" and how we "absorb" it. In this article I will discuss their movement in the horoscope, called the cycle of the nodal axis. 

Astrology lunar nodes have very specific movements caused by their astronomical basis. Ecliptic, the visible path of the sun, is perceived as stable and constant factor, this is why the moon's orbit looks as if it is slipping back to it. This slippage is the reason why to an observer from Earth the Lunar nodes move in a direction opposite to that of the Sun and Moon. Or in other words, the nodes are moving retrograde to the zodiac. Always. This is their normal movement. 

When using this term - retrograde - somehow the human mind automatically associates it with something negative. Similarly, when talking about retrograde phases of the planets such as Mercury and Venus, most astrologers believe it to be negative for any development. Many modern astrologers (and not only) believe that the retrograde planet is somehow blocked in its manifestation, because from Earth it seems to be moving in reverse. This is why it is very easy to fall into the trap of the superficial interpretation and to perceive it as something negative. Do not make an analogy between the word "retrograde" and backwards, degenerate, decadent, downward. The meaning is "going back". 

Everyone knows that in order to assess any situation in life, one should consider it first. And sometimes to relive it. And what do we do? We rewind everything mentally and “relive” it again. This is the mechanism of retrograde. And there is nothing decadent and degenerate in this. Indeed, there may be something which will deteriorate and go away forever. But even if and when this happens, it is because we have no need for it anymore. 

The retrograde motion of the Lunar nodes refers to a process through which we can not only revise our past, but also achieve a deeper sense of how our past is linked to our future and our basic needs. Human development is impossible to exist without this process of going back. This is why the Lunar nodes are the main factor in the horoscope, which I can directly connect to individual destiny and development. Because their retrograde movement means: "Let's go back to the source, to the past and to review our life and behavior”. Whatever the Lunar nodes in the birthday horoscope touch during their movement, it is always conditioned by our past, by our individual destiny. 

At the time of the birth of a person, the Lunar nodes are fixed in a particular zodiac sign and degree. In the years they travel through the zodiac and in order to return to the same position they had at the time of birth required are approximately 18.6 years or about 18 years and 7 months. This is why the 19^th, 38^th, 57^th and the 76^th year of our lives are marked by some tipping points. The years preceding them – the 18^th, 37^th, 57^th and 75^th - are time when we do something like a balance-sheet of the last 18 years and prepare for the next. From a purely psychological point of view, these are the years of new "birth". Performed is a gradual psychological readjustment, which often is not noticeable to people, carried away in their daily lives. They feel that something is wrong, a vague unease, dissatisfaction and even depression. Sometimes they find themselves not only in a personal crisis but also in a social one. What they do not realize is that they reset almost their entire mental process and their lives too. 

The midpoint of each of the major cycles is every 9 years. The interesting thing in it is that the transit North Lunar node “steps” on the South birth one and the transit South node steps on the North birth Lunar node. In astrological language this is called phase opposition of the nodes. These moments make it possible for a person to start "cleaning" his past and to come back to something omitted. And usually this is always accompanied by external events in life. This is why the 28^th, 47^th, and the 66^th year of our lives almost always carries some sort of radical change which is defined by the birth position of the lunar nodes. But in most cases it is related to our relationship with others as a whole and our social environment. 

So the cycle of lunar nodes blueprints the following years of a person’s life - 9, 19, 28, 38, 47, 57, 66 and 76. For some people it may continue to 85 and 95. From the years that I mentioned highly eventful are the 28^th, 47^th and the 66^th. 

In most cases, exactly those years of human life mark his "life story". Because usually during those years our environment changes – partners, circle of friends, colleagues, work environment, and social classes, in which we enter and go out of. Lunar nodes are tied primarily to the environment in which we live. This is our "street" with its architectural features and all the characters that inhabit it. Especially important is the period between 40 and 44 years of age when opposition occurs at the transit of Uranus to Uranus of the birth horoscope. This may be during the 40^th or 42^nd year – it is different for different people and it depends on the orbit of Uranus. This moment is very specific, since there is a switch, a stable and enduring shift in the themes of the Northern Moon node.
