Piggy Devedzi intends to end her sports career after participating in the Olympic Games in 2012. The athlete has brought great glory to her country and she does not make special plans for the near future. She only intends to rest and prepare mentally for her participation in the Olympic Games in 2012 in London. Devedzi’s dream is to return from London with a gold medal, which will be a dignified and successful completion of her sports career. Her ambitions for the 2012 Olympics are the reason the athlete is not making special plans for this year's European Championship. In 2008 Hrisopigi Devedzi - competitor in triple jump and jump discipline, was announced to be the best sportswoman of the year by the Greek Union of sports journalists. The athlete received this award for the fourth time, which in itself is a record in the history of the Union’s awards. Devedzi is undoubtedly one of the best players in the history of jump and triple jump discipline. During the 2004Olympic Games in Athens she jumped 15.32 meters, which is the fourth best score of all time. That same year she won a bronze medal at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest with a jump of 14.73 meters. In 2005 she ranked 5th in the World Championships in Helsinki, and in September 2005 she won first place in the finals of the Grand Prix in Monaco with a jump of 14.89 meters. Following are: silver medal in the European Championship finals in Sweden, bronze medal in 2007 in Osaka and a silver medal with a jump of 15.23 meters in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Hrisopigi is satisfied with the achieved results in her career as a athlete and the only thing she wants is a gold medal from the Olympic Games, which will be a good finale to her brilliant career. Devedzi is one of the last representatives of the old generation of athletes, for which the sport itself has immense value. Regarding the present situation of sport and of athletics she says that some time will have to pass before a new generation of athletes appears. A new generation, which will understand sport as a value, as their predecessors did, and not as way to have nice body. The Olympic medalist speaks skeptically regarding the true motives of the majority of the younger generation of athletes to deal with sports. According Devedzi part of the reason why the younger generation of athletes is discouraged is because certain privileges, from which former athletes benefitted, have been revoked.
