If you exceed the speed limit by 40 km/h over the limit for the respective road, besides the fine and the rest of the sanctions, the policemen will even have the right to seize the vehicle. That is why dear drivers, if you do not want to ruin your holydays drive carefully and observe the speed limits! According to an announcement of the police the control of the roads for the Easter holidays will be increased and there will be patrol cars placed outside of the cities at every 20 – 30 km.

The good new is that since tomorrow – Thursday, until Sunday (April 11th) the Tembi passage will be opened. The drivers will not have to pay a toll fee in order to pass through there, said the Minister of transportation and infrastructure Dimitris Repas. After the holydays the passage will be closed again for three – four weeks in order for the repair works for its reinforcement in three places to be finished.

The road Thessaloniki – Kassandra (Chalkidiki) will also be opened for the holydays since Thursday in the afternoon until Monday in order to make it easier for the people who have decided to spend their Easter holydays at the Kassandra peninsula.

The drivers and their fellow travelers who have decided to celebrate in western Greece have to have a lot of patience. On the highway Corinth – Patras the traffic will go in one lane in seven places, and in the other parts of he highway the traffic will anyways be problematic as it is usually. The traffic police reminds that at Ksilokastro (120 to 129 km) and at Akrata – Kameres (155 – 185km) last year were registered the biggest number of lethal traffic accidents on the roads of southern Greece.

The traffic on the Corinth – Tripoli highway will be normal except for 19 km on the way Tripoli – Kalamat where repair works are carried out. On the Antirio – Ioanena highway there are repair works from 45 to 46 km. and the intersections heading for Agrinio and Arta are opened. On the highway Athens – Lamia the road is narrowed near the Iliki village, however it will be opened during the holydays.

At Maliakos the drivers have to pay more attention at the intersection Stilida until Rahes where the traffic is going through the old highway where there is only one lane in each direction. According to the traffic police there are repair works carried out on the highway before entering Thessaloniki (if you are coming from Athens) on 400 – 403rd km., on 412 – 418km., 422 – 425km and 471 – 472 km.
