With a score of 1:1 finished the match from the qualification rounds for Euro 2012 between the football teams of Greece and Georgia, played at the Karaiskaki stadium in Athens. With the results from tonight the Greek national team lost two valuable points and showed that they need time to get used to the changes, which the new coach Fernando Santos imposes on the pitch. Apart from the time, another important prerequisite to qualify for the stadiums in Poland and Ukraine, of course, is hard work.

The game started in the worst possible way for Greece. A goal to the national team scored in the third minute the player Iasvili. A mistake in the defense practically "opened the door" of the hosts for a quick goal and put them in the embarrassing position to chase the Georgians in the score practically until the end of the game. A minute after the "defeat" followed an unsuccessful attempt for a goal by Spiropoulos. As more time passed the more the objective of the hosts to score seemed increasingly impossible. They got disorganized and started to play nervously and chaotically. They had a problem with passing the ball, which was not reaching the goal post of Revishvili, but was taken without much difficulty by the Georgian defenders. A good position to score there was in the 39th minute when Salpingidis sent the ball with a strong kick to the opponent's goal post, but then it ended up outside the net. 3 minutes after this Abraham Papadopoulos repeated the attempt of the hosts, but Revishvili removed the ball. The first half ended with the score 0:1.

In the second half Greece presented a better image. The hosts entered more dynamically on the field and were chasing hard to score points. This time they managed to break through the Georgian defense and the chances to score started to pour like rain. One of the biggest was by Salpingidis. In the 52nd minute he tried to score a goal to the goalkeeper but the ball got stuck in his feet and Salpingidis himself "got stuck" in the beam of the goal post. Two minutes after this he and Samaras created another goal position, but it also proved unsuccessful. Dangerous play with the ball in front of the Georgi’s goal post there were also in the 68th minute. The long expected goal, however, came in the 73rd minute and was the work of Spiropoulos. After this brief moment of joy the hosts "got busy" to pursue more opportunities to score. In front of the goal post of Georgia with a strong attack during the 75th minute ended up Katsuranis. The guests proceeded to counterattack immediately, but Sifakis did not give in any more. Opportunities for a goal the white and blue team had during the 88th minute when the entire stadium rose to their feet and at the 90th minute. Until the last minute however the result remained unchanged ...

The next match from the qualification rounds for Euro 2012 Greece will play on 07/09/2010against the team of Croatia.
